Rough sleeping

What to do if you are rough sleeping or are aware of somebody rough sleeping

Make a report to StreetLink. This is the fastest way to report someone rough sleeping and the report goes directly to our local Outreach Team who are out on the streets every night.

You can make a report:

  • On the StreetLink website or by calling them on 0300 500 0914 or through the StreetLink app (available through Google Play or iTunes).
StreetLink is run in partnership between Homeless Link and St. Mungo’s, and is funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, the Greater London Authority and the Welsh Government. StreetLink connects members of the public and their knowledge of rough sleepers, to the local services.

Alternatively, you can advise the rough sleeper to visit one of the Customer Service Centres at either Wood Green Library or Marcus Garvey Library, where they will receive support.

Rough sleeping in very cold weather

Haringey has a Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP), which means that during periods of severe weather we open shelters offering rough sleepers a place to sleep.

Access to the provision is through outreach services, Homes for Haringey, Haringey Council or Met Police.

If you are concerned about an individual sleeping rough during severe weather, please refer to StreetLink (as above).
