Then the New River Studios in Tottenham is just the place for you where you and your band can get two hours a week with a tutor and an additional two hours with a technician every week, plus gain a qualification, arts award or ASDAN curriculum credits. Special event at the New River Studios

Last autumn, the New River Studios in Tottenham hosted a special event put on by UK Music in conjunction with Homes for Haringey. The event gave young people aged 18-25 living in Haringey and other London boroughs a first hand opportunity to hear from successful people in the music industry.

Radio 1Xtra Djs Semtex and Twin B, singer and rapper Little Simz and Dj/TV presenter Maya Jama of Rinse FM and MTV were just a few names that stepped onto the podium at New River Studio to share their experiences. They delivered talks and workshops on how to 'get in and get on' in the music industry, fielded questions and even shared an anecdote or two.

About Project 2020

Unemployment, especially for young people, is an issue in Haringey. Project 2020 exists to help local people who are currently unemployed, or not in education, gain the necessary skills and confidence to find training and job opportunities.

We do this in a number of different ways:

  1. through community activities to build trust and relationships locally
  2. through one-to-one support where we look at the development needs of a young person and set up their own personal 'achievement portfolio'
  3. by teaching people the necessary skills to get them ready for employment
  4. by offering placements with a range of organisations to provide young people with work experience, apprenticeships, volunteer and training opportunities.

Project 2020 is not just about providing support directly to local people. We are also working with local community groups and the wider community to build up a network of organisations who provide similar support to local people as us.
