Covid19: Tier 4 New Restrictions Update
The Covid-19 alert for London and much of the South-East of England has risen to a new Tier 4: Stay at Home rating.
Whilst the London Borough of Haringey is in Tier 4, Homes for Haringey will be taking all reasonable measures to safeguard our residents and staff.
To support this, we will be providing a reduced repairs service in residents' homes by restricting works to emergency and urgent repairs only. We will not be undertaking routine repairs, this will include some follow-on repairs such as plastering and decorating until the guidance changes.
Any routine repairs reported will be recorded for us to attend to in the new year when safety allows.
All communal internal and external works will continue as normal.
Further guidance on Tier 4 Restrictions:
Households have been told they must not mix and the planned Christmas relaxation of the rules, which were due to begin on December 23 for five days, must now not go ahead.
Residents in Tier 4 areas must stay at home, with limited exemptions, similar to the rules under the National Restrictions. All non-essential shops and indoors gyms must close.
People are being advised to work from home when they can, and should not enter or leave Tier 4 areas. Covid-safe communal worship may continue.
People not sharing a home or in a Support Bubble must not mix until the tier level is reviewed on December 30.
The decision came following the discovery of a new variant of Covid-19 that is spreading the virus at a far faster rate.
People are being told to keep following the advice: reduce all contact; wear a face-covering when in indoor public places; continue to socially distance; and wash your hands with soap and hot water regularly.
We know how deeply disappointed you must be at this news.
But our NHS hospitals are seeing many more cases.
If you feel ill and have a high temperature, or a new and constant cough, or a loss or change in your sense of smell or taste, please take a Covid-19 test.
They are free, quick and easy. Haringey has three testing centres. Just call NHS 119 or go online www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.
And if you have been told to self-isolate please do so for the benefit of your friends, family and community.
The government has set out new Tier 4 restrictions as follows:
- Residents in Tier 4 areas must stay at home – except where exempt by law
- All non-essential retail shops, indoor gyms and leisure facilities, beauty and personal care services must close
- People must work from home if they can, but may travel to work if they cannot
- People should not enter or leave Tier 4 areas
- Tier four residents must not stay overnight away from home
- People can only meet one person from another household in an outdoor public space
- Communal worship can continue to take place in Tier 4 areas
For a full list of what you can and cannot do please visit the Government website www.gov.uk/guidance/tier-4-stay-at-home (external link).
A vaccine is now being distributed which should help protect the most vulnerable people.
Please stay Covid safe.
Keep Haringey Safe
