major works invoices
Billing in advance
We now bill major works in advance (in the same way as for the yearly service charges). This is in line with the lease and has been decided after consulting with leaseholders. It means that Haringey Council can now give leaseholders longer periods to pay instead of only 12 months. Please note that these payment options only apply to invoices issued after 8 March 2010.
Payment options
We have introduced a new set of payment options. For more details, please refer to our booklet called Paying for major works invoices
. The main payment options are set out below:
Pay the bill in full
If you pay your invoice in full within 6 weeks we will reduce the amount payable by 5%.
Interest-free loan
You can pay by monthly instalments of no less than £50 a month. The number of months that you can pay depends on the size of your invoice and whether or not you are subletting. You must pay by direct debit - your last payment will be reduced by £10 if you choose this payment option.
Amount | Monthly instalments | Who is entitled? |
|---|---|---|
Under £600 | 12 | All |
£600 - £1,799 | 24 | All |
£1,800 - £4,999 | 36 | All |
£5,000 - £9,999 | 48 | Owner-occupiers only |
£10,000 - £14,999 | 60 | Owner-occupiers only |
| £15,000 and over | 72 | Owner-occupiers only |
If your invoice is over £10,000, you must agree to have a charge placed on your property to secure the loan. You will have to pay an administrative fee for this, as well as any additional fees that your mortgage company may charge us. You must complete an application form for this payment option.
If you live in the property (that is you are not subletting the property), please download this application form.![]()
