Top scores for Repairs Service
Thursday 13 August 2009
Homes for Haringey’s repairs service has scored 36 out of a possible 40 points in an independent inspection by experts from the construction industry.
The highly rated repairs service – based at Ashley Road and Lordship Lane in Tottenham – was inspected by the Considerate Constructors scheme in July. The one day assessment involved a thorough inspection of the depots against set compliance standards.
All sites registered with Considerate Constructors are monitored by industry professionals, inspections are then carried out every six months. Inspectors judge against categories including environment, cleanliness, good neighbour and safety. A report with a scorecard ranging from 1 to 5 is then issued. The latest inspection has seen the Repairs team increase their scorecard from 34.5 in January to 36. Premises that score between 36 and 40 are rated as ‘exceptionally good sites.’ In each case both the depots had a high level beyond compliance in all areas.
“Construction sites should be well presented, safe and take into account the needs of local residents, businesses, site personnel and visitors,” said Bob Watts, Executive Director of Repairs.
“We are constantly reviewing and improving the way our repairs team and contractors operate on site and in tenants’ homes. We are extremely pleased with our latest improved score and our performance against codes of good practice. It is good to know that we are now in the top 10% of all constructors nationally.”
Each year the top scoring constructors are reviewed for the schemes Annual National Awards. Homes for Haringey can now compete for the awards which recognise the achievement of contractors in delivering high standards of consideration and care towards the public, site staff and the environment. While some suggestions have been put forward for improvement, the inspector described Homes for Haringey’s units as a ‘credit to all concerned.’
