The repairs depot, based at Lordship Lane, Tottenham received the national standards award following its first inspection last week.

An assessment by the BSI confirmed that work carried out by the Homes for Haringey team around repairs, complaints, audits and objectives meet the high standard required for ISO9001: 2000 certification.

Homes for Haringey is the arms length management organisation which took over responsibility for managing Haringey Council’s housing stock in April 2006. It is responsible for providing services to around 21,000 homes in the borough.

The responsive repairs team includes 150 skilled operatives covering plumbing, plastering, electricians, bricklayers and roofers.  Multi skilled operatives including joiners, carpenters and general labourers also do a mixture of works such as kitchen installing and street paving works.

On average 5,000 repairs are carried out each month.

Mike Jones, chair, Homes for Haringey, said:

“Homes for Haringey are committed to providing the best quality services to our residents. This certification from an independent internationally recognised institution is a further demonstration of our aim to consistently develop high standards and takes us a step closer to our 2 star bid."

The approval comes just months after Estate Services and Rent Collection, managed by Homes for Haringey, also received BSI certification.

Cllr Isidoros Diakides, executive member for Housing, added:

“My congratulations to Homes for Haringey for these successes. It is always pleasing to have an external organisation confirming the quality of your standards, and you cannot get much higher than the British Standards Institute for this.”
