Top Marks for Repairs Service

Wednesday 12 December 2007

Our repairs service has scored highly in an independent inspection by experts from the construction industry.

The repairs service – based at Ashley Road and Lordship Lane - was inspected by the Considerate Constructors scheme in November and scored 33 out of 40 points. The half day assessment involved visits to various property sites where work is being undertaken to improve council homes.

The Homes for Haringey repair bid team celebrate their success.

All sites registered with Considerate Constructors are monitored by industry professionals to assess their performance against codes of good practice. A report with a scorecard ranging from 1 to 5 is then issued. Categories include environment, cleanliness, good neighbour and safety. Both depots were found to have a ‘high level beyond compliance’ in all areas.

“Construction sites should be well presented and take into account the needs of local residents, businesses, site personnel and visitors,” said Bob Watts, Executive Director of Building Services.

“We are constantly reviewing and improving the way our contractors operate on site. In addition to our own directly employed team, all the contractors engaged to carry out our decent homes works are also registered with the scheme.”

The inspector added: “The procedures put in place and the continued adherence to the Scheme’s code are very creditable.”
