Visiting Service for Homes for Haringey Sublessees

Monday 26 July 2010

Homes for Haringey has become the first ALMO to launch a visiting service to its sub-lessees.

The Home Ownership team launched the service in April 2010 to make leaseholders’ tenants aware of the services available from Homes for Haringey. Visits are carried out shortly after the leaseholder has registered their sublet with the Home Ownership team as required under the terms of the lease. The home visits are carried out by Tenancy Management officers who provide information packs on Homes for Haringey’s services, answer any queries and record the leaseholders contact details in case of an emergency.

More than 1,300 leaseholders are currently renting out their flats and the number is steadily increasing. At present 85% of those leaseholders have registered their sublet with the Home Ownership team.

Home Ownership Manager, Nesan Thevanesan, said: “The visiting service will ensure that leaseholders’ tenants know about the type of services we provide to their building and the rules everyone should follow. They are also provided with details on disposing of rubbish properly, keeping noise down and following health and safety rules prohibiting flammable materials being kept in the home and in the communal areas of the building.”

The organisation has worked closely with members of the Leasehold Panel to make leaseholders’ tenants more aware of their responsibilities.
