equality impact analysis
What is equality impact analysis?
Equality Impact Analysis is a systematic way of looking at a new project to see what impact it may have on different groups. Carrying out equalities analysis at the development stage of a policy or strategy helps us to avoid setting up ways of working that inherently have an adverse impact and have potential to save time, problems and money. In 2011 we reviewed our equality impact analysis framework to address the Equality Act (2010).
We use equality impact analysis to:
- prevent direct and indirect discrimination
- make sure that our service is informed by best practice
- highlight diversity as an integral part of our work
- make sure our services are accessible to everyone in the community
- improve the way we respond to customers’ needs
- inform the development of future services
- ensure we comply with legislation
