Residents treated to free vocational courses

Free training courses to start off the New Year are on offer to Haringey  tenants and leaseholders courtesy of Homes for Haringey. The housing management organisation regularly runs a wide range of vocational day and evening courses for local residents wanting personal development and to improve and refresh their skills on the jobs market.

Courses available range from Fundraising and Assertiveness Skills to Introduction to Computers. Following successful completion, a certificate of attendance is also awarded to the candidate. Training is delivered by officers from the Resident Involvement team.

Senior Resident Involvement Officer, Sheryl Hendrickson, said: “These short enjoyable courses demonstrate our ongoing commitment to providing residents with free training to build on their existing skills and knowledge.”

Residents can also get travel, childcare and carers’ costs reimbursed. Other courses include:

  • Communications Skills
  • Chairing skills (parts 1 & 2)
  • Advocate training
  • Presentation skills (parts 1 & 2)
  • Managing conflict
  • Chairing skills

Courses run between January and March 2011. Courses take place at the Commerce Road Community Centre or Civic Centre, Wood Green, N22, between 6.30pm and 9.30pm.
