Residents to cast Board votes
Monday 23 August 2010
All Council tenants and leaseholders will receive voting packs this week to elect six local residents to join the Homes for Haringey Board. The countdown then starts with three weeks to elect four tenant Board members, one leaseholder Board member and one supported housing Board member.
A total of 22 hopefuls applied to join the Board and following interviews 11 will now stand in the elections. The six successful candidates will play a major role in helping to deliver improved housing in Haringey. The role is voluntary requiring a commitment of approximately one evening a month over a three year period.
Council residents can play their part in influencing the future of housing services in the borough by voting in the elections via post, website or text message. Voting closes on Monday, 13 September 2010.
Angela Bosnjak, Governance Manager, said: “We have received nominations from all eligible categories and hope Council residents take this opportunity to cast their votes and choose their preferred candidates.”
The successful candidates will receive full training and join five independent members and five councillors on the Board. The results will be announced and the new resident Board members will take up their posts at the Annual General Meeting on 27 September.
