New Decent Homes Guide for Haringey Residents

Wednesday 20 August 2008

Everything local tenants need to know about the ‘decent homes’ refurbishment programme is outlined in a new 24 page colour supplement produced by Homes for Haringey.

Decent Homes – A guide for residents contains information from surveys and satellite dishes to choices available for choosing new front doors and kitchens. It is only available to tenants and leaseholders whose homes are selected for the programme. The A4 recyclable guide is divided into 7 separate chapters complete with illustrations and contact details for further information.

Haringey’s decent homes programme started in April 2008. Homes for Haringey, the housing management organisation which carries out repairs and tenancy management services to over 20,000 council properties will deliver the five year £200 million refurbishment programme across the borough.

Refurbishments include new kitchen and bathroom installations, roofs, front doors, rewiring, double glazing and insulation. So far 200 properties have been improved. During the full programme 13,000 council properties will be brought up to the Decent Homes Standard.

Contractors Wates Construction, Mulalley, Lovell Partnership and Apollo Housing are carrying out the programme in designated areas; Wates (Hornsey), Mulalley (Wood Green), Apollo (South Tottenham) and Lovell (North Tottenham).

Ola Akinfe, Executive Director of Asset Management said:

“We worked with local residents in producing this comprehensive guide which covers all aspects of our decent homes programme.”
