Homes for Haringey positive about disabled people

Friday 14 November 2008

Homes for Haringey has been awarded ‘Two Ticks’ accreditation for its commitment to employing disabled people.

The Positive about people with disabilities accreditation is awarded by Job Centre Plus to employers who follow best practice when it comes to recruiting, selecting and retaining disabled people.

To get the nationally recognised award, Homes for Haringey had to sign up to five commitments, including: guaranteeing an interview for all disabled applicants who meet minimum criteria for a job vacancy; consulting disabled employees regularly to make sure they can develop and use their skills; and to make every effort to keep employees on if they become disabled.

Paul Bridge, Homes for Haringey Chief Executive, said, I’m delighted that we’ve now got Two Ticks accreditation. As well as ensuring that we do not discriminate against disabled people, our commitment to Positive about people with disabilities will give us access to a wider range of potential employees, so we make sure we get the best person for the job.”
