Homes for Haringey hosts 1st Summer Open Day
Monday 16 June 2008
The first outdoor Open Day run by Homes for Haringey has been hailed an overwhelming success after more than 500 local residents attended.
Crowds gathered throughout the day to take part in a number of free and fun activities laid on by the housing management organisation.
Residents had the opportunity to get advice from a number of information stalls, watch drama and live music performances, attend IT taster workshops and register their views on the services Homes for Haringey provides. A free barbecue and gifts were on offer and there were ten lucky winners in the prize draw.

'Beat That' music competition winner Omolabake Odushegun sings her winning song 'A Girl's last goodbye' at the Open Day.
Younger residents made good use of the facilities provided including face painting, bouncy castle and a 20ft supervised climbing wall. They were also asked to complete a questionnaire for the chance to win one of four £20 high street vouchers.
Residents took the opportunity to meet with contractors from Wates, Lovell, Apollo and Mulalley. The contractors, currently working on Haringey’s 5-year £200m decent homes refurbishment programme across the borough, also distributed hundreds of free goodie bags.
Serene Britton from Lansdowne Road, N17 praised the event for its community focus. She said: “I came down as I am passionate about the area where I live and wanted to see how I can get more involved in what’s going on in the community. This open day has a real good feel to it and feels very people centered. It was a good idea as it lifts the confidence of local people.”
Chief Executive, Paul Bridge, added: “The feedback from residents has been very positive. I will be looking at all their suggestions about the day and how they feel about the services Homes for Haringey offers.”
