Haringey Leaseholders' Association lose official recognition

Thursday 2 December 2010

On 28 September 2010, Homes for Haringey suspended its recognition of Haringey Leaseholders Association (HLA) pending an investigation.

Following that investigation which centred on apparent breaches of Homes for Haringey’s minimum recognition criteria, the Board of Homes for Haringey has agreed that Homes for Haringey will no longer give formal recognition to the Haringey Leaseholders Association with immediate effect from 1 December 2010. This means that the association will no longer receive grant funding or any other support in kind from Homes for Haringey.

This investigation has unveiled a number of breaches and three principal allegations of poor practice by the HLA, which have now been upheld, and informed this decision. Haringey leaseholders will be notified of the Board’s decision and will be duly consulted over proposals for any future recognition of an independent leaseholder’s consultative body.

Homes for Haringey is responsible for managing approximately 4,500 leasehold homes across the borough.
