Glowing report for Homes for Haringey
Friday 6 March 2009
Homes for Haringey staff are forward-looking, positive about their jobs and keen on improvement”. This was the verdict of standards watchdog, the British Standards Institute, after the latest six-monthly inspection of Homes for Haringey’s internal procedures.
As a result of the four-day assessment (9-12 February 2009), Homes for Haringey has retained its ISO9001:2008 accreditation with ‘no outstanding non-conformities’ and with glowing reports from the independent auditor.
Homes for Haringey carries out its own regular checks on all the services covered by the Quality Management System with customer satisfaction, complaints, performance, training and development, and health and safety all coming under close scrutiny.
Any of these areas can be selected for the quality inspection, and Homes for Haringey does not know which area will come under the spotlight until the actual day. The randomly selected areas on this visit were: income collection, responsive repairs and estate services.
David Finn, the BSI auditor, examined all aspects of the organisation’s internal processes. Record-keeping, reporting, internal audits, and corrective and preventative action (risk analysis) were all examined to ensure that Homes for Haringey manages its services in a thorough and transparent manner.
Singled out for particular praise by Mr Finn were: income collection - it’s just fantastic to see the measure that are in place”; internal audits - really good”; responsive repairs - In each case excellent reports are produced”; voids - as with all processes, the data and information monitoring processes are first class”; and staff training - It was quite amazing to look at the in-house training records, as it was clear that training takes place virtually every working day of the year”.
Homes for Haringey Chief Executive, Paul Bridge, said, This latest BSI report demonstrates the ongoing dedication and commitment of staff. I am delighted that the official feedback is so positive and am determined that this should continue so that Homes for Haringey provides an ongoing first-class service to its residents.”
