They were joined at the half day event by Cllr John Bevan, Cabinet Member for Housing Services, and almost 30 residents from the William Atkinson and William Rainbird Supporting Housing schemes in North Tottenham. As part of their special day, residents were treated to a special Cream Tea brunch followed by a cooking demonstration at William Rainbird House on 11 November.

A number of representatives including Breyer who are carrying out Decent Homes improvements across supported housing properties, Northumberland Park Safer Neighbourhood team, Resident Involvement and two NHS teams - Healthy Eating and National Cancer Screening hosted information stalls and displays. The majority of residents - men and women also took advantage of the free pampering treatments.

Breyer treated residents to a sumptuous lunch and also sponsored the prize draw of a HD ready LCD TV with Freeview and a Phillips music system. Homes for Haringey’s Resident Involvement team also supported the event and consulted on how to set up a Residents Association.

Cllr Bevan, praised the event, adding: “It is important that older residents feel involved with activities at their scheme and  have access to local neighbourhood resources such as services provided by the NHS team. This event was also a great opportunity for residents to meet with Breyer contractors and find out everything they need to know about Decent Homes works.”

During the event, staff from the repairs and parks teams carried out on the spot repairs work within the scheme and pruned shrubs in the communal garden.

William Atkinson Resident, Emily, said: “Today has been a real treat. I have had an excellent lunch and a really nice day socialising with my neighbours and friends. I felt pampered by revitalising hand and head massage, and also found a lot of useful information tips about security and safety issues from the Safer Neighbourhood team.”
