Residents at William Rainbird and William Atkinson House received an extra surprise, as the Homes for Haringey Leadership team donned overalls to redecorate the residents’ communal room, just in time for Christmas. Councillor John Bevan, Lead Member for Housing, joined them to help make sure a top job was done. William Atkinson resident, William Blake, was also there to oversee the works and seemed pleased with the efforts.

Hampers included chocolate truffles, jams and marmalades, biscuits and Christmas puddings. They were provided by the Breyers Group, who have been responsible for undertaking Decent Homes work to the borough’s supported housing schemes.

Chief Executive Paul Bridge, who helped deliver hampers and rolled up his sleeves to strip wallpaper in the afternoon, said: “Christmas is a time that brings people together and our supported housing schemes do a great job of doing just that for our residents. It was a pleasure to visit so many people and wish them a happy Christmas.”

Lead Member for Housing, Cllr John Bevan, added: ‘I’m really pleased we’ve been able to redecorate the common room for residents. The room is vital as a place to socialise and relax so it’s great that it’ll look new just in time for Christmas.”
