Executive Directors from Homes for Haringey have celebrated national Customer Services Week (4 – 8 October 2010) by working as front line concierge and viewing officers.
Director of Resources, Rowann Limond, spent a morning working with a concierge officer in a residential block in Wood Green, while Jackie Thomas, Director of Housing Management, spent her day viewing properties in Tottenham and signing up new tenants as a viewing officer.

The organisation which manages council homes across the borough, also hosted an Estate Action Day for local residents in the community hall on the Sturock Close estate on Ida Road, Tottenham N15.
Residents attending had the choice of speaking with their ward Councillor, David Browne, going on an estate inspection walkabout with officers and waste contractors Haringey Enterprise and meeting officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team. Tenancy Management and Resident Involvement officers were also on hand to answer any queries and provide information on how to set up a Residents Association and the range of services offered by Homes for Haringey.
Rowann Limond, visited George Lansbury House in Wood Green where she was given fresh insight into the role and responsibilities of a concierge at the 14 storey block. “It was interesting looking at the different areas of work involved from contacting residents to find out if they were happy with their repairs, inspecting the landings and monitoring CCTV to overseeing visitors, workmen and residents to the block,” she said. “The CCTV system is much more sophisticated now and has really made a difference. Although the role of a concierge officer can be quite isolating at times, it was evident that they have built good relationships with the tenants.”
Feedback from the executive management team, staff and residents will be used to shape Homes for Haringey services further by giving them a better understanding of local customers needs.
