get involved

To provide services that people want, and to meet the needs of our diverse community, customers must be at the heart of everything we do. Homes for Haringey wants you to get involved in making decisions that affect the management of your home and the services you receive.

This section of the website tells you about the ways you can get involved, the benefits of being involved and the help you could receive from the Resident Involvement team. You can choose how to get involved and when. We have opportunities to suit everyone, and if you would like the sound of any of the ways to get involved, we want to hear from you.

If you want to get involved simply fill in our form and we will let you know about opportunities to get involved

Resident Volunteers Awards 2010

Nominations for the Rewarding Resident Volunteers Awards 2010 are now in and show the strength and diversity of the voluntary work that is taking place around Haringey. The resident led steering group has nominated officers from different sections of Homes for Haringey (resident involvement, asset management, estate services, housing management) to sit on a panel to consider the nominations.

The winners will be invited to an awards ceremony at the Decorium banqueting hall in Wood Green. They will receive a plaque and £300 to spend on a project of their choosing. We hope it will be a very special evening.

The resident involvement team has also invited applications for Special Grants to Residents' Associations. This is for any project that helps Homes for Haringey fulfil its aim of promoting stronger and safer communities. The judging panel will also select 12 proposals from Residents' Associations for funding of up to £500.

All people nominated for an award, as well as any residents who have made a nomination will be invited to the ceremony. Residents’ Associations which have submitted an application will also be invited. While not everyone will get an award, everyone deserves to be recognised. We hope that the ceremony will be a celebration of all the voluntary work being carried out to improve the lives of residents across the borough.

If you have any queries about the Rewarding Resident Volunteers Awards, please contact the Resident Involvement Team on 020 8489 4463.

For the second year, the Rewarding Resident Volunteers Awards special grants are being sponsored by Homes for Haringey’s decent homes partners.

National Tenant Voice (NTV)

National Tenant Voice is a new organisation for tenants of housing associations, housing co-ops and local authorities (including ALMOs) in England. It is being set up to give tenants a voice, influence and expertise at national level.

The Government's aim is for tenants to have a greater influence over the services they receive. It is supporting the setting up of the National Tenant Voice to help achieve this.

At the heart of National Tenant Voice will be a National Tenant Council of 50 tenants that will meet to debate and discuss key housing policy issues. 24 of the tenants on the National Tenant Council will be nominated by existing tenants' organisations. The remaining 26 are currently being recruited. For more information, visit the Communities and Local Government website.
