pilot projects

At the beginning of 2008 four 10 week pilot projects were started across the borough to deliver decent homes improvements to local council tenants before the main programme began in April.

These pilot projects were to test that everything was in place for our tenants and contractors so that when the main programme began we could be sure that everything would run smoothly.

You can take a look at some pictures of homes before and after the decent homes work took place.

Leader of the council, Cllr George Meehan, Isidoros Diakides, Cabinet Member for Housing Services, and Chair of the Board Mike Jones visited one of the pilot projects before it finished to see how works were progressing.

Mr Zeka Enver, of Northumberland Park, whose home was included in one of the pilot programmes said:

“Everything is perfect and new. I am very pleased. The contractors have been great and always willing to answer all my questions. There were no major interruptions to my day and the facilities were back on by the early afternoon.”

Councillor Isidoros Diakides, Cabinet Member for Housing Services, added:

“This is the biggest investment programme ever for council housing in Haringey. We must get it right. We have selected the best contractors for customer care, but we want to make sure that our tenants are happy with the process. That is why we have these pilots, to test them.

“I am pleased with the quality of the work but above all else to see how happy the tenants were with the contractors.”
