the two star rating
The Audit Commission have given us two stars after their inspection in May 2007. This means we provide good housing services to tenants and leaseholders in Haringey.
They have also given us 'promising prospects for improvement' as they felt we had taken notice of what they said in the last inspection and we had worked hard to make things better.
This is great news. It means we now have funding from the government to work on bringing all homes in the borough up to the Decent Homes standard.
The inspectors spent two weeks looking at our services in May 2007. They reviewed more than 1,025 documents, visited estates and Customer Services Centres and interviewed managers and staff from Homes for Haringey and Haringey Council.
Tenants, leaseholders and contractors were also interviewed to get a real feel for how we work.
In the official report, the inspectors said we:
- have a ‘well trained and highly motivated workforce’.
- have a strong approach to customer services and provide polite and prompt services which meet the needs of highly diverse communities.
- provide high quality service information which is available in a range of community languages and have an excellent website.
- provide a very strong service in some areas including access and customer care, diversity, resident involvement and leasehold management.
But it isn’t all plain sailing. The inspectors told us that we needed to do aids and adaptations work for tenants more quickly, and to improve our rent collection. We’ll be working to carry out these improvements over the rest of this year.
A big thank you to residents for their support and involvement.
