freedom of information

What is the Freedom of Information Act?

The Freedom of Information Act (FoIA) gives you the right to request information from a public authority, such as Homes for Haringey.

What can I ask for?

You can ask for any information that a public authority (such as Homes for Haringey) holds about how and why we make our decisions, how we spend money and how the organisation works. However, there may be circumstances when we cannot provide the information that you have asked for. If this is the case, we will tell you why we cannot give you this information.

The information you want might already be publicly available or available through our publication scheme. You can find details of our scheme here. When you ask us for information, we will tell you if it is already available elsewhere.

How can I ask for information?

You can ask in writing or by e-mail. But if you just need advice, please contact our Feedback team or Haringey Council’s Freedom of Information team.

How long will I have to wait?

We aim to acknowledge your request within two working days, and to deal with your request within 20 working days. If we are not going to be able to meet this target, we will let you know how long it will take.

How much will it cost to get the information I want?

Normally it is free to get information. However, if you have asked for a lot of information, we may have to charge for our administration costs. Again, we will tell you about this and offer advice to help you get the right information.
