Advice Day for Leaseholders
Friday 6 February 2009
Haringey leaseholders whose flats are in buildings due for updating in the coming year under the Decent Homes programme had an opportunity to find out more at the Decent Homes Advice Day last Wednesday (28 January)
The leaseholders were given an overview, by Homes for Haringey staff, of what the programme will involve and options for payment .
For those with concerns about paying for the work, the local Citizens' Advice Bureau gave a talk on dealing with debt and how to claim benefits for major works.
All four Constructor partners, Apollo, Lovell, Mulalley and Wates, were on hand to meet leaseholders direct and answer individual questions relating to the works.
Feedback was received from a lot of those present and most said that it had been an interesting and useful occasion.
Ola Akinfe, Executive Director of Asset Management from Homes for Haringey said: We are keen to keep leaseholders fully informed on how the decent homes programme will affect them and to address any concerns they may have. We were delighted to see so many attending, and would like to thank all those who took part.”
Homes for Haringey will be holding a similar event next year for leaseholders in Year 3 of the five-year decent homes programme.
